Our September meeting is already in the books. Topics were mostly about equipment and trail maintenance plus upcoming events.

Another hot topic was the upcoming changes in how you will be able to join a snowmobile club in NH. Starting January 1st, you will be able to join our snowmobile club online through a special website run by the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association. This is the first step in a process towards making OHRV registrations available online. In the future you will be able to have “one stop shopping” where you can join a Club AND register your sled(s) all online. Now it is encouraged but not required that you join NH snowmobile club before you register your snowmobile. Now this is a win/win situation. While your membership dollars are going directly to a worthy Club to help with equipment and grooming expenses, you the member also recieve a $30 per sled discount on your OHRV registration fees. Currently our membership dues are $28 for for the entire family and that includes a one season subscription to the Sno-Traveler Newspaper and NHSA decals. After we recieve your membership application, we’ll be mailing you a membership voucher which contains the information for your OHRV discounts.

It’s VERY important that the information we recieve on your application is legible and contains a valid email address and the date of birth for the primary member/head of household so we can set up your account in the database. We will be sending out application forms in the mail to all of last year’s members shortly. You can also join the Club at local businesses such as Rochester Sports Center in Barrington, Bickford’s Sports Center in Epsom, Morrison’s Cycle in Madbury, Dover Marine in Dover, St Hillaire Motorsports in Rochester and Log Cabin Hardware in Nottingham. We also hope to have blank applications at the Town Office, Sheilah’s Deli and the Isinglass Store for you to fill out at home and send in.

After January 1st, you will be able to join online through a special website. The link will be on our own website www.straffordswampstompers.org at that time. Online fee will be $35 plus a $2 transaction fee. Right now you can beat the rush and save a few bucks by joining early.

Upcoming Events: Coming up soon is the annual NHSA Grass Drags and Warecross in Frement, NH on October 9th-11th. This thing is HUGE and gets bigger and better every year. Side by side grass drag racing, watercoss drag racing and ovals, spectacuar freestyle show PLUS great deals on new clothing and parts, manufacturers displaying all the new sleds plus a swap meet on Saturday and Sunday. www.nhgrassdrags.com Our next Club meeting will be on October 8th at Nippo Lake Golf Club. 7pm.
